Volunteering in School

We are always looking at welcoming volunteers in to our school to help support in lots of different ways. In the past, we have had grandparents, local residents, Work Experience Students, Post-Grads, retirees – you name it! Our school staff LOVE having volunteers helping in school! Some volunteers are looking to gain experience of working with children but others just want to find a way to “give back”. We have multiple opportunities for volunteers including supporting children as well as wider opportunities including preparing resources, displays or organising communal spaces such as our gardens and library.

There are many different ways in which adults can help in school, either on an ad-hoc or a regular basis. These can include:

• Helping with literacy (typically listening to children read)
• Helping with numeracy
• Sharing your professional skills (for example, if you’re a doctor, you might go in to talk to a class whose topic is healthy living)
• Helping with classroom activities such as cookery
• Helping on school trips
• Looking after our library or school grounds
• Creating or organising resources for the classroom

If you can help with any of these things, please complete the volunteer application (below). We prefer electronic copies but if you would prefer to complete this by hand, please call into our school office to collect a copy.

Once you have completed your application, we will give you a hard copy of our volunteer induction booklet (copy below) and talk this through with you.

Please note, all volunteer applications require two completed references (these can be character references, not necessarily from employers). You will also be required to complete a DBS check prior to volunteering which is paid for by the school.
