Safeguarding Information
Here at Epsom Downs Community school & Early Years Centres we have a duty of care to ensure that all users of the school are kept safe from harm. It is our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. Children have a right to be cared for and protected, protecting them is everyone’s responsibility. We are committed to provide a secure and supportive environment in which children can develop and grow into mature and responsible people. Safeguarding children is an essential part of our holistic approach to ensure that children are protected from abuse and neglect and that every child reaches their full potential and feel confident to talk if they are worried, believing they will be effectively listened to. As a whole site we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The best interests of the children will always be our priority.
All staff (including supply staff, volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to read the Policy on request.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
