Shoes, jewellery and valuables

School Shoes and Trainers

  • Sensible black school shoes should be worn at all times. Trainers, open toe sandals, jellies, shoes with heels, or boots are not acceptable.
  • Children are only allowed to wear trainers at lunchtime or for PE.
  • Children arriving in trainers will be expected to attend a lunchtime detention in the Consequence Room.
  • If a child arrives in trainers the class teacher will send a note to their parents reminding them to wear school shoes.
  • If a child is not wearing school shoes, they will hand their footwear into the Receptionist in exchange for a pair of school plimsolls to wear for the day. At the end of the school day the child’s footwear will be returned in exchange for the plimsolls and the child will be reminded to wear appropriate school shoes in the future.

Jewellery and Valuables

Children must not wear or bring jewellery or valuables to school. Children may wear a watch and a single pair of simple studs if they have pierced ears.

If a child is found to have other jewellery, or valuables including a mobile phone, s/he will be asked to hand it into the Office for safe keeping. The item may be collected at the end of the school day, but a reminder will sent home that bringing valuables to school is not acceptable.

Children must not wear any earrings including stud earrings for PE / swimming

  • Earrings must be removed by the child for PE.
  • Wearing plasters over the earrings is not permitted.
  • No member of staff is permitted to remove a child’s earrings

In the interests of safety, children will not be allowed to take part in PE lessons if they are wearing earrings of any kind. This is in accordance with Surrey County Council Health & Safety Policy.
